“ Was looking for something good for to eat while in the area and this was the first spot to pop up and this is exactly what I decided on. Pictures looked incredible and the reviews were good so I gave it a whirl. It's like a mom n pop type of joint but not so much, there's a bit of seating indoors with a bar also. There's tons of old "memorabilia" of old alcohol containers and New Orleans themed decor. They have plenty of good menu items to choose from but the waitress said they are known for their roast beef. Went ahead and got that as well as the meat pies for starters and onion rings, and my girl got the shrimp poboy. The meat pies were good and cooked to order (we arrived at 8:30pm on a Tuesday), the onion rings kind of let me down but they weren't terrible. They're battered really thick and the inside isn't as crispy. Her shrimp poboy was outstanding, I only had a bite or 2 and I was quite jealous. The roast beef was really good and a bit messy, not too wet but messy. There's a reason the reviews are high like they are. The waitress was very nice to us and they had a couple of guys together just kicking the with another older woman there. It's like everyone knows everyone over there and that's a great environment. It was $38 for all of our food and I was expecting more therefore I can't complain one bit about this visit. ”
“ We went after the lunch crowd. It was a cute place and every thing was clean. Service was great. Sister in law can't eat bread. They made her a bowl with all the fixing. If you are in St Rose seeing plantations stop by. ”
“ Best roast beef I've ever had. Great friendly service. It's a nice cozy place with a family atmosphere. ”
“ For generation to generation, this has been a place of consistent service. There the other day to check on it n hands down even better as time moves forward ”
“ We were visiting the Destrehan plantation and our tour guide recommended this place. He said to get the roast beef poboy and the cheese fries. The roast beef poboy was sooo good. The cheese fries were pretty good but would have been better with chopped bacon instead of bacon bits. Comfortable home like atmosphere. Excellent service. They even have a wall of homemade jelly's and pickled items. Can't wait to come back next time we are in the area. ”
“ Lunch with the girls! Fun quaint little place ! We ordered 3 different sandwiches and shared them around the table ! Yum ! Yes ! They have root beer! Service was great , food was fresh ”
“ Nice place by the river. Looks like a normal house except for few signs, but inside has an old barn tavern feel. Mostly po-boys and few other items. The po-boy didn't come fast, but with toasted bread and strong flavor pulled beef. Good food with easy going down Mexican beer, the life is good by the river. Should stop by when in Norlco or in Destrehan! ”
“ Best local spot for poboys, can never get enough! Service is slow because everything is made fresh. Plan to hang out for a while with family and friends. I recommend the roast beef! ”
“ Little busy during lunch time. Food takes a bit.. But food was good and staff was friendly.. Ordered large/18inch stuffed shrimp poboy.. Well it was 18 inches alright.. Lots of food.. ”
